Â鶹appÈë¿Ú(“Catawba”) seeks applicants for its Area Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life position. The Area Coordinator is pivotal in fostering a vibrant and supportive residential community at Catawba College. This live-in position oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned residential areas, providing leadership in student development, crisis management, and community building. The coordinator supervises a team of Resident Assistants (RAs) and collaborates closely with campus partners to enhance the overall student experience within the residential community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise and facilitate Catawba Resident Assistant's recruitment, training, and development.
- Consistent with the Catawba Mission and Student Affairs priorities, create and implement a team development plan that includes, but is not limited to, individual meetings, weekly staff meetings, and team bonding activities.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Resident Assistants (RAs) to ensure adequate support and programming within assigned residential areas.
- Develop and implement community-building initiatives and residence hall programs that promote student engagement, inclusivity, and personal growth.
- Serve as a conduct officer, adjudicating student conduct cases and maintaining accurate documentation by college policies.
- Coordinate residence hall openings and closings, including room inspections, key distribution, and related administrative tasks.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and serve in an on-call rotation to support students and enforce policies.
- Collaborate with Facilities Management for maintenance and custodial needs within residential facilities.
- Assist with selecting, training, and evaluating RAs and other residence life staff members.
- Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees and initiatives as assigned.
- Participate in on-call rotation with other Residence Life and Housing staff; work cooperatively with Academic Affairs, Chaplain Office, Catawba Public Safety, Student Health Services, Catawba counselors, and other campus and community resources to assist in emergencies and crises.
- Contribute to an effective unit by completing special projects and performing other duties assigned by the Dean of Students.
- On Call & Crisis Management
- Serve in on-call crisis management rotation for the campus.
- Provide emergency response and crisis management as needed on campus and for staff.
- Develop a residence hall on-call program with the Resident Assistants to ensure 24-hour, seven-day coverage in the residence halls
- Other Duties as Assigned by the President and/or the Executive Vice President and Provost or Dean of Students
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to build solid and healthy relationships with students, creating a collaborative environment with students at the center.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability with high student/customer service in addressing student/family issues or concerns.
- A collaborative individual working with faculty and staff from various Catawba departments, capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with facilities, the conference center, and other departments.
- Ability to multitask and find creative solutions in a supervisory and autonomous environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and learning management systems like Blackboard.
- Understanding student management systems such as Banner, Presence, eRezLife, and Maxient.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are needed to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators.
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level Catawba officials, and the public.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The minimum job requirements for this position are:
- Bachelor degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- At least five (3) years of experience working in residence life on a college or university campus, with a preference for experience at the director level.
- Experience developing, implementing, and assessing strategic goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Experience in supervision/administrative role.

Responsibilities

- The successful candidate will be expected to incorporate active learning strategies and effectively use instructional technology to support classroom instruction.

The Goodman School of Education at Â鶹appÈë¿Úseeks candidates for an Assistant Professor of Education, with a specialty in mathematics education. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate mathematics education courses and courses in other areas of possible content/pedagogy expertise. Responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, with the possibility of summer coursework opportunities, courses in the First Year Seminar program, and courses in the College Honors Program. Successful applicants will have a background in mathematics education, familiarity with both face-to-face and online instruction, and K-12 public school experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in supervision of teacher candidates in their field experiences. Experience with technology education courses and with edTPA is preferred.

- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12 schools
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience teaching mathematics education courses at the college level

- Experience in the field of technology education and in modeling technology use in educational settings
This position will be a full-time faculty position and may be tenure-track or non-tenure track, depending upon the qualifications of the applicant. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees, attend faculty and School of Education meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with the standards of the College. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:     
- Understand and express the mission, values, and unique offerings of Catawba College
- Collaborate with admissions leadership to create annual goals and objectives that align with the College’s Strategic Plan
- Oversee a strategic arm(s) of enrollment such as athletic recruitment, scholarship programs, enrollment marketing, alumni and parent engagement, staff development and training, vendor relations, etc.
- Serve as a second reader, provide admission decisions, and participate in admission committee discussions.
- Strengthen ties with school and community college counselors/advisors and other key influencers in the recruitment process.
- Professionally represent the College at college fairs, college nights, and other events to recruit prospective students.
- Recruit, counsel, and enroll prospective students to meet the College’s enrollment goals through extensive outreach and relationship-building activities.
- Participate with other team members in event planning, digital engagement, and other initiatives to meet recruitment goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Day and evening travel are required, and job functions are routinely performed outside of the primary office on campus or in off-campus locations. Participation in admissions events in the evenings and on weekends is an essential role of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement are required. Â鶹appÈë¿Ú(“Catawba”) seeks applicants for its Coordinator of Campus Programming position. The Coordinator of Campus Programming is responsible for collaborating with the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Students for programming events hosted by Student Affairs and Campus Life. The Coordinator of Campus Programming assists with program development, event logistics, marketing and promotion efforts, implementation, and post-event feedback mechanisms. This position also supports student outreach and connection efforts for Student Affairs and Campus Life. Manages social media engagement and maintains the department website.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the Dean and/or Assistant Dean with the programmatic development, implementation, and promotion of large-scale collaborative campus and divisional programs and events. Supports late-night and weekend programs as needed.
- Advises students on opportunities to get involved on campus and connects students with campus partners for college or divisional engagement opportunities. Led department outreach efforts for Student Affairs and Campus Life, including tabling opportunities, orientation events, information sessions, and other collaborations with campus partners.
- Responsible for recruitment, selection, supervision, and ongoing development of student leaders. Coordinates schedules, appearances, and ongoing outreach for college spirit programs and the Catawba community and collaborates with campus partners for attendance at events and programs.
- Responsible for maintaining the department event calendar, website, marketing and promotional materials, and social media channels to highlight student involvement opportunities. Collaborates with the Office of Communication and Marketing team to provide marketing and advertising support for department events.
- Coordinates and administers the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data and feedback mechanisms. Prepares summaries and reports on student involvement in campus programs.
- As part of the CARES team, work closely with the Academic Affairs, Chaplain’s Office, Catawba counselors, Public Safety, Student Success, and other campus partners to promptly manage the outreach and follow-up for students of concern.
- Collaborates with departments such as Academic Success, First Year Experience, and CARE Team to design, support, and participate in developing key retention initiatives.
- Collaborates with office staff on all department programs, special projects, and other community-building events. The Department of Theatre Arts at Catawba College seeks an exceptional professional in Musical Theatre with a primary specialization in musical theatre dance styles and choreography. We seek artist/scholars with a strong commitment to professional-level training in a vibrant undergraduate program with a heavy focus on the liberal arts. Preference will be given to candidates who can also direct musicals.
Responsibilities:
he successful candidate will be able to take on varied responsibilities as the program demands, which may include but are not limited to: teaching technique in ballet/jazz/tap/modern and musical theatre styles, heading a collaborative student class-based Dance Ensemble, a dance minor, and choreographing or directing productions. Extensive knowledge of musical theatre repertoire, a knowledge of current trends in the professional industry, and the skills required to work within those trends are essential to this position.
The candidate will choreograph at least one major musical per year, as well as supervise musical and dance performances by student musical theatre/dance ensembles. Other instructional duties include coaching of students on musical theatre auditions and advising. Opportunities reflective of candidate’s expertise are possible. Student Success Coaching is an equal partnership between the student and the coach. Coaches and students concentrate on specific goals and the commitment to the planned outcomes. Coaches collaborate with students, their families, advisors, faculty members, and other administrators to develop appropriate academic and transitional support to first-year students applicable to all aspects of the student's life tasks - academic, personal, social, and career.
The Student Success Coach will address the unique needs of first-year students by providing holistic, proactive opportunities and academic and transition support. The Student Success Coach will serve as the point person in a ‘warm hand-off’ from Admissions and assist the student and their families navigate pre-enrollment tasks to be completed prior to arriving on campus. The selected candidate will also assist in the implementation of programs and services designed to promote academic, personal, and social/emotional success, engagement, and retention of first-year students. In addition, the selected candidate will work with upperclassmen placed on Academic Probation or Warning.
The Student Success Coach will be a part of a dynamic Student Academic Success team and report to the Student Academic Success Coordinator. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month appointment.

- Design and lead Student Success seminars on such topics as time management, dealing with homesickness, leadership building, and metacognition
- Support the academic success and progress of first-year students through monitoring class attendance and academic performance, transitional conferencing, and pathway to graduation planning.
- Provide student support through developmental advising that comprehensively supports the whole student in all aspects of their life tasks - academic, personal, social, and career.
- Coordinate student academic support services, including academic advising, academic services/tutoring, learning excellence, and disability support.
- Provide academic and transitional advising support to all entering first-year students. Advise on academic scheduling, majors and careers, academic progress, and general College policies and procedures. Provide academic overview through group orientation, peer, and individualized contact.
- Advise first-year students regarding academic and technical standards.
- Assist with creating schedules for first-year students.
- Provide systematic support for first-year students in undecided/undeclared majors.
- Provide systematic support for first-year students identified as "at-risk" by campus partners.
- Provide systematic support for students placed on Academic Probation or Warning.
- Train, supervise, and manage peer academic support leaders for Supplemental Instruction and tutoring services.
- Maintain confidential records, collect data, and prepare reports related to the functions of advising, planning, evaluation, and assessment.
- Make referrals to other College services/offices as appropriate
- Attend professional development training aligned to the goals of the position.
- Other duties as identified by the Student Academic Success Coordinator and/or the Provost, or his/her designee
- Participate in Admissions and Athletic Recruitment events, some weekends required.
Desired Education, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor degree required, Master’s preferred, in College Student Development, Counseling, Education, or closely related field.
- Experience providing direct services to students in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated history of problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills along with the ability to work collaboratively with others required.
- Comfortable speaking to a wide variety of audiences, including: parents, students, coaches, faculty, and administrators.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms required; familiarity with Banner preferred.

Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Â鶹appÈë¿Úwas established by German pioneers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution. In 1925, the College moved to its current location in Salisbury, North Carolina, strategically located just 45 minutes from Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem and within two hours of the mountains and fours from the coast.
Catawba’s 276-acre wooded campus houses 41 buildings, including an 189-acre ecological preserve. The College is undergoing a time of significant development on campus, with multiple projects underway that align with their commitment to sustainability, community, and student experience. The Smokestack, a reclamation of the College’s old coal power plant, will be renovated according to Living Building Challenge stands and will provide an additional 10,000 square feet of student space. A new 150-bed residence hall is scheduled for completion in August 2026, and two additional residence halls are being renovated.
